A Personal and Professional Journey I Will Carry with Me for Life

I decided to undertake my volunteer experience at the “Centro Clara Luz” childcare center with the aim of immersing myself in South American culture and putting my knowledge and skills as a teacher at the service of the children.

Before leaving, I did not have any particular fears or anxieties. On the contrary, I was filled with curiosity, excited about discovering a new reality, and eager to put my professional skills to concrete use.

My integration into the organization was very natural, thanks to a collaborative, welcoming, well-organized and friendly working environment that made it easy for me to feel part of the team.

Without a doubt, the most beautiful and rewarding part of the entire experience was the bond I built with the children through supporting them academically".  Being able to accompany them in their learning process and observe their progress week after week constantly reaffirmed that my work had a real purpose. In contrast, the most difficult moment was saying goodbye. After two months of building such strong emotional bonds, leaving them and returning home was deeply moving.

At the end of my stay, I felt that my expectations had been completely fulfilled. I learned that volunteering is not only about giving, but also about listening, learning and allowing ourselves to be enriched by the people and culture around us. I returned home with the certainty that my profession is a concrete tool for helping others, and with the unforgettable memory of each child’s smiles and progress—a personal and professional journey that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.
