Context of the community in which he works

The Centro Educativo Nueva Vida is located in the "Fondos del Borro", on the border of Barrio Borro with the Casavalle housing unit. This is an area where precarious settlements predominate, with houses lacking sanitation, with irregular supply on electricity and running water. Some houses are illegally supplied with electricity, through precarious connections that greatly increase the risk of electrical accidents or fire.

 

The houses are built with scrap materials, sheet metal, cardboard, wire, wood planks, etc., and therefore do not offer good protection from adverse weather. Health and hygiene conditions are precarious, making it difficult for people to develop physically, psychologically and socially.

 

The Nueva Vida social center works with children and adolescents between the ages of 0 and 18 and with young mothers in the sector.

Its goals

Offering educational attention and integral formation to children and adolescents in various situations of vulnerability.

Main activities carried out

The work that is carried out focuses on 3 projects, each designed according to the needs and conditions of the group of beneficiaries to whom it is addressed: CAIF, works with early childhood from 0 to 3 years old; CLUB DE NIÑOS, school-age children from 5 to 12 years old; CENTRO JUVENIL, adolescents from 12 to 18 years old. The 3 projects are developed according to the workshops modality trying to accompany the formal education system, widening and enriching the process.

Tasks to be done

Volunteers should integrate themselves into the learning and support processes that take place in all the early childhood and adolescent projects in the centre.
