Centro Comunitario “Nuevos Horizontes” (Punta Alta) Argentina
In 1993 a group of young people of the city of Punta Alta motivated by the ideal of building a more united world, began working with children at risk in the Fonavi neighborhood. Thanks to this work with the community the need emerged for a physical space that could act as a place of encounter, where children, youth and adults could channel their talents, discover true values, recognize their abilities, and feel part of society and of a project for the future.
In 1995, the initiative is presented in “New Families” (branch of the Focolare Movement), in particular the international project “Solidarity at a Distance”. The response was quick and 100 sponsors began to contribute through a monthly fee.
